Please meet Reggie!

Reggie is a sweet, sensitive boy who is once again looking for a place to call home. At 4 years and 8 months old and weighing 23kg, he’s a beautiful medium-sized dog with a loving heart and a deep desire to bond with his person.

Reggie is incredibly affectionate and trusting with those he knows well, but he is very nervous around new people—both out on walks and when visitors come into the home. He tends to bark and may growl or snarl if someone approaches his safe space too quickly. That said, he’s made great progress with a regular female visitor, whom he now greets happily. He’s still wary of male visitors and continues to bark at them, so he is currently kept separated during such visits.

With his trusted humans, Reggie is cuddly, affectionate, and craves attention. However, he is easily frightened, so he needs calm, consistent management and gentle, positive reinforcement training to help him feel secure.

Reggie is fully house-trained and can be left alone for over four hours without issue. He doesn’t guard people, toys, or food. In fact, even his favorite items—like slippers—can be easily swapped for a chew toy. He isn’t particularly food motivated, and his current carer has had no trouble removing high-value treats or lickimats from him when needed.

Due to his nervous disposition, Reggie cannot live with cats or children, and he would thrive in a quiet, adult-only home where he can be the sole pet. He’s looking for a calm, patient adopter who will give him the time, space, and love he needs to truly feel at home.
