Sunday Success: Scamp’s Story

🌟 Sunday Success Story! 🌟

Meet Scamp, a vibrant soul adopted from Romania by Lucy and Pete! Though she’s now a cherished member of the family, Scamp’s journey wasn’t without its challenges. Lucy shares their heartwarming story:

"Scamp arrived in August 2021, but now we don’t think we remember a time without her being here. To be open and honest, though, about the start of our journey with her, I don’t think anything could have truly prepared us for her arrival. The first few months were tough, but we had the support of O.U.R. The ladies did an amazing job of peeling me off the ceiling in those first few weeks. Scamp was an extremely anxious and reactive dog. She was scared of everything and everyone.

We stopped, we watched, and we listened to her, she told us what she needed, and we learnt from her. And when we took her lead, things changed.

I never thought that she would be off the lead, be able to go on holiday, go to daycare, or even walk down the street.

Scamp isn’t the same dog that arrived; she loves to play and meet new dogs. She loves to snuggle and have lazy Sunday lie-ins. She likes pancakes and syrup for breakfast and sleeps with her little piggy every night.

Some things haven’t changed—sometimes she’s still a little spicy. She hates the postman, the groomers, and the vets. But we manage these things for her as her family. Will she be in a pub beer garden anytime soon? No, but I don’t want her to be. I want to walk down a beach with her, cozy up by a fire with her, walk through the woods with her, and give her everything she needs.

I thought I understood dogs before Scamp, but I didn’t. She has taught me so much about love and patience. The little face I see every time I walk through the front door now makes me feel like those first few months didn’t even happen. She filled a hole in our home we didn’t know we had.

Would I do it again? Probably. 😉🐶"

Thank you, Lucy and Pete, for sharing Scamp's story and showing the power of patience, love, and understanding! 🐾
