Sunday Success Story: Alfie (was George)
In the chilly winter of 2021, two sweet pups—Charlie and George—were cruelly abandoned but found refuge with our amazing Romanian foster, Diana. Sarah and her husband Neil instantly fell in love with the pair and began the adoption process, initially planning to bring Charlie home.
However, as we learned that Charlie had a genetic disorder requiring lifelong treatment, it was clear that staying with Diana, a dedicated vet, was in his best interest. Though bittersweet, this decision brought George into Sarah and Neil's lives, where he was lovingly renamed Alfie.
Now, nearly four years later, Alfie is thriving in his forever home, living a life filled with love, care, and plenty of spoiling. He’s truly living his best life, and we couldn’t be happier for him and his wonderful family.
Here’s what his mum, Sarah, had to say about their beloved Alfie…
“Alfie arrived into our lives at 5:20AM on my birthday and the day we got engaged. What a day!
I’d never had a rescue dog before but it was love at first sight. Alfie became my little shadow whilst he found his paws. He was terrified of my partner Neil, he went no where near him for weeks. So sad to watch and just wonder what trauma this little puppy had been through before he was rescued by OUR. “
He absolutely adores Neil now.
He’s still very wary of men he doesn’t know to this day.
Fast forward to nearly 4 years later…
Alfie is Alfie - he’s a dog who loves routine. Quite independent and an excellent guard dog from behind the front window. But, still very wary of new people. He has webbed feet, yet hates water!
I’ve tried everything to train him to sit. He’s having none of it. But, what does it matter.
He’s incredibly spoilt, and I don’t care. He deserves to be. He hates fireworks or any bangs at all. It’s heartbreaking to watch his fear.
He’s the fastest runner I’ve ever seen in a dog and he can scale a high wall, no problem.
He’s made some great friends on his walks and loves a sleepover with his bestie Jeremy.
We couldn’t love him more. He’s still a Mummy’s boy.
Rescuing isn’t a walk in the park, you need patience and time. If you’ve got both of these attributes your hearts will be filled with so much love’.
Thank you, Sarah and Neil, for giving Alfie the happy ending he so deserved!
