Sunday Success Story: Clementine & Lola
Today we’re celebrating a heartwarming tale of mother and daughter duo, Clementine and Jaffa (now Lola), an inseparable pair who have found their happily ever after together.
These two were living in a cramped pen outside an apartment block, facing an uncertain future as the local kill shelter threatened to take them. Thankfully, their owner entrusted them to Alina, who ensured they were safe and cared for. It was clear from the start that these two couldn’t be separated, so we made it our mission to find them a forever home together.
Enter Louise and Bill and their family, who had previously adopted Peggy and Arlene from us. Knowing the love and care they could offer, we couldn’t have dreamed of a better match! In January 2023, Clementine and Lola made the journey from Romania on the happy bus, arriving in the UK to start their new lives.
Now thriving in their wonderful new home, they’ve brought endless joy to Louise and Bill’s family. Bill wrote a few words about their new family members…
“Clementine (Clemmy) and Lola started their life in Scotland in January 2023 with our daughter, Naomi, after transport issues meant they had to be collected by her and their new mum, Louise.
In the first couple of weeks, it became apparent that they were not used to wearing collars or going for walks, but after two weeks of practice in the garden they were ready for their first walk in Scotland.
They soon settled down with Naomi’s dogs (one Pip is another Romanian rescue), but Clemmy was very quiet and a bit withdrawn for a while. Lola, her daughter, is very ‘me, me’ orientated, and pushes her way forward at every opportunity, but in a very friendly manner.
After they were used to the collars, they came down to Shropshire with Louise and met up with Isla (formerly Arlene) and Peggy, both Romanian rescues from OUR. They settled in quickly and are all the centre of attention when out on their walks.
Clemmy took a year before she lost her quiet withdrawn attitude and her true character appeared. She is very loving, dotes on her daughter, who can climb and rest on her all the time. All Clemmy wants is to have someone’s lap to sit against and have a cuddle.
Lola has always been the same character, full of life and loving. Pestering all the time to play ball, which she would do all day if we let her.
We have another Romanian rescue in the family, Ferdinand, who is in Manchester with one of our sons. All the dogs have met each other and get along very well, all have different characters as you would expect. Due to their characters, it is not possible to pick out a favourite, all are our favourites in their own ways.”
Thank you, Louise and Bill, for giving Clementine and Lola the life they deserve.
