Ursa: 3 years, medium
Please meet Ursa!
She is a beautiful, gentle soul who is now 3 years old and weighs around 25kg. She’s a leggy, elegant girl who has sadly spent her entire life in the shelter after being dumped as a tiny puppy in a box. She is ready to find the loving home she has waited so long for.
Ursa’s story is a heartbreaking one. She has grown up without rescue support, knowing only shelter life for all these years. Now, time is truly against her. Due to impending legislation affecting “stumpy” dogs, Ursa may soon lose her chance to travel and start a new life through no fault of her own - simply because she was born with a very short tail. This makes finding her a home urgently important.
Despite everything she has been through, Ursa is a super friendly but wonderfully gentle girl. She doesn’t bark much and has a sweet nature. She is jumpy at times, so she would be best suited to a home with older children who can respect her space and movement. She could live happily with a male dog or just as contentedly as the only dog in the home. She has not been tested with cats.
Ursa does have a sister, Bella, and in a perfect world they would leave together. Sadly, due to the urgency of Ursa’s situation and time constraints, we know that finding a home for them both together is unlikely — but it is a beautiful bond that we will hold out hope for.
Ursa has spent years roaming freely over the land at the shelter, so a secure garden is an absolute must for her. She is not good on the lead yet and will need patient, kind training to help her learn how to walk calmly and confidently in the outside world. Like any dog who has missed out on normal home life, she will need time, understanding, and gentle guidance to adapt.
Ursa is waiting for someone to finally choose her. If you can offer Ursa that chance, you won’t just be changing her life - you’ll be saving it.Could you be her forever home?
