Meet Azur!

Beautiful Azur has had a tough start to life. He was taken from the streets and dumped in a kill shelter, where he was absolutely terrified — frozen in fear, shaking and unsure what would happen next. When he came to our shelter, it took time, patience, and kindness for him to finally realise he was safe. Now, he’s learning to trust and showing us what a gentle, special soul he really is.

Azur is still a shy boy at heart and will need time and space to adjust when he moves to a new home. He doesn’t growl or show aggression — instead, he trembles quietly until he feels comfortable. But once he starts to trust you, his whole personality begins to shine. When Azur decides you’re his person, you’ll know — he’ll roll onto his back, show you his belly, and wave his paws in the air for attention. It’s his way of saying, “I feel safe now.” He may even get little zoomies, he was running between our two volunteers with happiness when he got used to them!

He is good on the lead and is generally a quiet, peaceful companion. He’s quite independent and is happy to spend time on his own, but he also enjoys gentle cuddles when he’s in the mood.

Azur isn’t overly interested in other dogs — he tends to ignore them politely — so he’d be perfectly happy as an only dog. He hasn’t been cat tested, and could live with teenagers who understand how to give him space and let him build trust at his own pace.

At around 30kg (at his ideal weight, he needs to put a little on), Azur is a handsome, boy with the most stunning blue eyes, as deep and beautiful as the ocean.

We hope this gentle soul will soon find a family who can see beyond his shyness — someone patient, kind, and willing to let him settle slowly into a world full of love and safety.
