Important Update: New APHA Regulations for Dogs Entering the UK
As many of you may have already seen, APHA has just announced new regulations for dogs entering the UK from Romania, relating to Brucella canis testing.
We want to reassure everyone that we already test all of our dogs for Brucella, but the new rules now require blood samples to be sent to the UK for official testing before travel. Unfortunately, this change makes the process more time-consuming and adds additional costs to the adoption process.
What this means going forward:
There will be an additional cost to cover the new testing requirements. We will do everything we can to keep this as low as possible for adopters.
This will impact future transport dates after 15th October, as the new testing timeframes may reduce the number of possible transport dates. For example, instead of having two potential dates within a 30-day period, we may now only have one.
We hope this won’t discourage anyone from adopting, as it’s always the dogs who suffer the most in these situations. Your support gives them the chance of a happy, safe future.
We completely understand that these changes may cause frustration and disappointment, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding while we adapt. We’ll continue to share updates as soon as we have more clarity on how this new system will work in practice. Thank you, as always, for your compassion and support for our dogs.
