🌟 Sunday Success Story: Elena's Journey 🌟
This week, we’re celebrating the beautiful story of Elena, who now has a forever home with Bethany. Elena’s early life was filled with hardship—she and her two sisters were found desperately trying to feed from their mother, who had sadly been hit by a car. A kind-hearted woman in the village looked after them, doing all she could until a local foster, Anda, could take the pups in.
Elena was one of the dogs we agreed to help, but somehow, she got overlooked time and again. Her little face captured our hearts, but it was Bethany whose heartstrings she tugged the most. Despite no prior interest, Bethany acted fast, completing the adoption process in just three days! Elena was on her way to her new home within a week.
Here’s what Bethany had to say about Elena…
“Elena is the first dog who has been truly mine, I had some reservations about adopting online but her face just drew me in. Her story truly pulled at my heartstrings and I felt a connection with her over having a similar story. I did the application process as quickly as I could as I couldn’t miss out on the tiny puppy who wouldn’t leave my mind.
Fast forward a few weeks, Elena arrived at 3am off the happy bus. She was incredibly nervous but quickly sought comfort from us, and of course devoured her chicken! She is quite a nervous girl, and I have no doubt those early weeks played a huge part, but seeing the little wins and her growing in confidence makes me so proud.
Elena is such a vocal dog, who often makes her feeling known and “replies” if you say something she knows. She is very nervous of other dogs on walks, but absolutely thrives at daycare with all her familiar pals which is so lovely to see her get that interaction.
We would probably have about 100 more pairs of socks without her, but I wouldn’t change this silly girl for the world. We adore her more than she will ever know 🩷”
We couldn't be happier for Elena and her new family and it also gave us one of our hardest working volunteers, as shortly after, Bethany joined us as an OUR volunteer. 🐾💛
