Sunday Success Story: Sonny

Today, we'd like to share Sonny's journey with you. His story began back in October 2021 when he found himself in the confines of a public shelter. His heart was heavy with sadness and fear and he was longing for love amidst the uncertainty of his fate. Despite his already desperate situation, Sonny faced yet another challenge—a badly infected paw. When we found out about Sonny, we just knew we had to get him out of that kill shelter. We appealed for a sponsor for Sonny and thankfully someone swiftly came forward to help him.

Once out of that dreaded place and safely under the care of Alina and Iuli, Sonny began to thrive. He started to learn that people aren't all bad and that there are kind ones out there. He knew he was safe but he still deserved a family of his own.

Although Sonny was a very friendly boy, days turned into months for him and we just couldn't seem to find him a home. However, in March 2022, Sonny's path took a transformative turn when his name was changed from Tyson to Sonny—a symbolic shift that mirrored the newfound light entering his life. With his renewed identity, Sonny was shared on social media a lot more and he soon drew the attention of a family seeking a companion to share their love and home.

On 22nd March 2022, Sonny made the long trip over from Romania to the UK where he found himself embraced by a loving family eagerly awaiting his arrival. Sonny couldn't have found a better home and his wait was definitely worth it. No longer haunted by the shadows of his past, Sonny now shares his days with another furry friend, basking in the joy of companionship and the warmth of a loving home.

Here's what Sonny's family has to say about him:

"When I first saw Sonny, something in my heart knew he was the final piece of my family jigsaw. I applied to rehome him, and felt incredibly nervous. When I was approved, I was thrilled. I then was very tearful when I saw his passport... it was real and he was real. It was then I really felt deeply affected about his previous life. Fast forward to his arrival... I was so, so excited. He arrived and the love and journey began for us both, and his sister Martha. He has been just so incredibly wonderful. We love him more than words. His infectious joy, polite manner, huge snuggles and wiggly bot make every day precious. I don't entirely know how I knew we were meant to be together, but I was right. Thank you Sonny for sharing your life with me. "
