Sunday Success Story: Ted & Pedro
š¾ **Sunday Success Story: Ted & Pedro** š¾
After losing their beloved senior dog, Lucy and Chris felt their home wasnāt complete without a four-legged friend. Thatās when they saw Ted (then Chai), a timid pup advertised with his sisters, Latte and Mocha. Born to their mum, Sahara, and lovingly cared for by rescuers Alina and Iuli, Ted found his way into Lucyās heart.
In July 2021, Ted arrived in the UK and settled in with his new family, but something was still missing. While he loved his humans, he lacked the confidence to fully relax - except when he was around other dogs. Almost two years later, fate stepped in again.
Lucy came across a litter of scrawny black puppies on the OUR FB page, the P Pups, who were struggling to find homes. She decided to foster one of the boys, Pedro, hoping it would help him secure a forever home in the UK while also seeing how Ted adjusted to having a canine companion.
But within hours of Pedroās arrival, they all knew that he wasnāt going anywhere.
From a shy, uncertain pup, Ted has flourished with Pedro by his side. The two are inseparable and Pedro has given Ted the confidence he needed to truly thrive. Their bond is unbreakable, proving once again how powerful the right doggy friendship can be.
Hereās what Lucy has to say about their journey:

āBack in July 2021, a petrified puppy landed on our doorstep. We decided to call him Ted. We quite quickly realised this was going to be a tough challenge and we tried everything to get this terrified dog to trust us. He eventually started to show glimpses of his little character to us as a family, but people he didnāt know were another matter. He came out of his shell best when he met other dogs. It was lovely to see him play and relax and it was obvious then what Ted needed to thriveā¦
During the first half of 2023, we saw four skinny little puppies advertised for adoption by OUR, but they werenāt getting many enquiries as for some strange reason, black dogs are not popular! The advertisement then went out appealing for fosters, and I made the decision to offer to foster Pedro, purely on the basis that he would find a home easier in the UK.
He arrived on my birthday in June at 2am, a big 4-month-old puppy with huge paws! I think I had decided by 2.30am that he wouldnāt be going anywhere, and a couple of weeks later, we became proud failed fosters.
Choosing to adopt Pedro was the best thing we ever did for Ted. He now has a best friend 24/7 who he relies on in every way. His confidence has grown, and their friendship is unbreakable.
I would never sugarcoat how challenging itās been along the way, but the rewards are immense. I love being Tedās person - he has helped me in more ways than I could ever say, and now with Pedro by his side, how lucky are we!ā
Ted and Pedroās story is a perfect example of how rescue dogs can change each otherās lives just as much as they change ours.
Thank you to Lucy, Chris and her family for opening your hearts and home to them both! ā¤ļø
