Sunday Success: Winter & Nessie – A Tale of Two Sisters

After the heartbreaking loss of their beloved dog in 2020, Nat and Lee’s home fell quiet — the kind of quiet that only dog people understand. The absence of barks, tail thumps and stray dog hair left a void that echoed through every room.

Their journey to fill that space wasn’t straightforward. Turned away by UK rescues due to having young children, they were left disheartened. But then they found us and everything changed.

It was a still night when 4-month-old Winter arrived, exhausted from her journey from Romania but full of curiosity. From the moment she set paw in the garden, she lavished her new family with kisses. She also came with her fair share of anxieties, but Nat, Lee and their children embraced her with patience and unconditional love, slowly helping her feel safe, secure and home.

Five months later, fate stepped in again. Nessie, a pup they had originally considered, needed a foster home. Of course, it wasn’t long before Nessie made it very clear she wasn’t going anywhere. She’d found her place. And her sister.

The bond between Winter and Nessie transformed everything. Nessie gave Winter courage, balance and companionship. Walks became easier. Confidence replaced fear. And thanks to Mary, our wonderful behaviourist, the whole family flourished together.

Now? These two are inseparable. Sofa hoggers, tea stealers, nap buddies and absolute queens of the household.

💬 “Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to O.U.R. Dog Foundation. You didn’t just help us rescue two dogs — you helped us heal, grow and complete our family.” – Nat

We’re so grateful to Nat, Lee and their children for opening their hearts (and home!) not once but twice. Winter and Nessie are truly living their happily ever after and we couldn’t be prouder to have played a part in their story.
